Tree Species - Classification

Based on findings for a previous project to register the tree population (please see project: » GIS – Tree Register) we conducted the registration of different deciduous trees in the Bonn region.

GEOSCAP analyzed multispectral data (World-View-2) and air based LiDAR-data with the help of most recent classification and image processing technologies (e. g. Random Forest).

GEOSCAP delivered:
◌ A spatially highly precise registration of the population of deciduous and coniferous trees
◌ Classification of the deciduous trees into different species like maples, plane trees, poplars etc.
